Title I
Title I is a federal grant program that provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. Title I resources are distributed to schools where needs are the greatest, in amounts sufficient to make a difference in the improvement of instruction. The distribution of Title I funds is based upon the number of students in each school who qualify for free and reduced lunch.

FMS has twelve "schoolwide" Title I schools to include eight elementaries and four middle schools. Title I provides each of these schools with highly trained Title I teachers and instructional facilitators to support reading and math within the schoolwide program. A schoolwide program allows schools to address specific educational needs of the entire school and enables schools to combine Title I funds with other federal, state, and local programs. Title I also provides professional development and training to administrators and teachers in research-based best practices in education.

Parent Involvement is a key component of Title I and each school has its own plan and schedule of family events.
